Trade lane
Norway to Bangkok
Oslo (OSL) → Bangkok (BKK)
An established consumption market rather than a new one. The competition is other suppliers, not the category.
Thailand already eats Norwegian salmon in volume, through sushi counters, hotel kitchens, tourism and modern retail. That makes it easier to sell into than a market that has to be built, and harder to win, because the buyer has a current supplier and a reference price. What decides the account here is not the first offer but the twentieth: whether the size distribution held, whether the colour and fat content were consistent week to week, and whether the delivery arrived on the day it was promised during high season.
How the goods move
Airfreight, direct or one transit
2–3 days door to door
Weekly fixed schedules matter more than the fastest single routing.
Reefer container via Suez
30–40 days port to port
For frozen portions and pelagics into processing and retail.
Typical door-to-door transit as quoted by forwarders, counted from collection at the plant to delivery at the buyer’s address, including export handling and import clearance under normal conditions. Customs holds, inspection sampling and missed connections are not included. Last reviewed 15 September 2026.
Documents this destination requires
- Health certificate issued by Mattilsynet per consignment
- Import licence held by the buyer before arrival
- Certificate of origin
- Catch certificate for wild-caught consignments
Who checks it on arrival
Department of Fisheries and the Thai Food and Drug Administration. The import licence sits with the buyer, and a buyer without one is not a smaller order — it is a different conversation, which we would rather have before the offer than after.
What stops a first shipment here
Consistency is the account, not the price. A supplier who delivers one excellent week and two uneven ones has lost a programme that a steadier supplier at a higher price would have kept.

Landed cost
What it actually costs on your floor — an estimate
We do not publish a fish price, because a number with no volume, Incoterm or validity is not information. What we publish is the arithmetic. Enter the rates you have been quoted — nothing is pre-filled — and the calculator converts the offer to a single comparable basis: net of glaze or ice, one Incoterm, one currency, every line named. The result is an estimate.
