Regional market
Southeast Asia
Fast-growing modern retail and a large reprocessing base. Halal certification and cold-chain integrity are the two gates.
Southeast Asia buys Norwegian seafood in two very different ways. Modern retail in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam sells fresh and frozen salmon into a middle class that has adopted it quickly. At the same time, the region is one of the world’s largest reprocessing hubs, importing frozen raw material to be cut, packed and re-exported. The two customers want opposite things from the same species, and an offer written for one will not work for the other.
